Jeremy Sowders is the Economic Development Coordinator for Hoosier Energy. Jeremy has a broad background in economic development ranging from the local to international levels.
Jeremy served as the Director of Business Development for Radius Indiana, where he developed and led a comprehensive business recruitment program for the Radius Indiana region. Jeremy also worked closely with and provided support to local economic development officials, elected officials, and Naval Support Activity Crane leadership during his tenure at Radius Indiana.
Prior to his experience at Radius Indiana, Jeremy served as a Senior Associate at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in Washington, DC. During his tenure at IEDC, Jeremy managed the organization's global repository of knowledge in the field of economic development, and in addition to contributing to the organization's legislative and government affairs efforts. Of note, Jeremy led the White House National Incident Command’s Economic Recovery Team economic needs assessment of Hancock County, MS, in response to the Deep Horizon oil spill.
Earlier in his career, Jeremy also worked in state and local economic development in Indiana. He served as the Vice President of Business Development for the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation from 2008-2009 where he helped create and manage the Bloomington Technology Partnership, a unique partnership between Bloomington area technology businesses, entrepreneurs, higher education and the public sector. Jeremy also worked with Bloomington area life sciences companies and helped foster relationships with Indiana University and nearby NSWC Crane.
Jeremy got his start in economic development as a Project Manager at the Indiana Department of Commerce in 2004 and participated in the planning and transition of the organization into the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, a public-private partnership that currently serves as the lead economic development catalyst for the state of Indiana. In 2005 and 2006, Jeremy led the IEDC in successfully completed new private sector job creation projects.
Jeremy holds a Bachelor in Public Affairs from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs and has completed the curriculum for the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute.
